How It All Started
Men-Wood Coatings is a family-owned business that supplies premium quality finishing products for the exterior. We are a full service company with over 50 years experience in the building industry.
Our company was started by Melvin Nevins and his son Michael. They both wanted to develop a log cabin stain that would hold up to the elements. Men-Wood was developed in 1967 in conjunction with one of the oldest and largest paint and stain companies in the USA.
In 1986, Men-Wood started marketing this log cabin stain in the West, to homeowners and builders for siding, roofs, fences, decks and logs. Men-Wood was such a huge success that we formally introduced it to the log home industry in the fall of 1989.
In 2003, the president and founder of the company, Melvin Earl Nevins, passed away. The company has continued with their new president and owner, Melvin's daughter, Cindy Padget. Cindy has taken the company to a new level.
In 2005, Cindy teamed with formulators in Chicago and California to develop what Men-Wood Coatings feels is the best exterior wood finish and log cabin stain on the market today. Cindy is committed to continuing to build the family business and to enhance the quality of its restoration supplies and customer service that her father had developed.
