Restoration of an 1847 Log Cabin

Log Cabin restorationWith its aim to preserve and maintain an 1847 log cabin, the City of Highland Park and the Highland Park Historical Society have applied to the Illinois Public Museum Capital Grant Program for $62,800.

The log cabin is now sitting on a property near St. Johns Avenue and Laurel Avenue. Although the property itself is owned by the city and park district, the log cabin is maintained and operated by the historical society.

According to the application, the money will be used to improve drainage, replace attic joists and improve the cabin’s flooring.
