Hidden Log Cabin in Baxter

A resident who lived along Cumberland River noticedA resident who lived along Cumberland River noticed that an old historical log cabin was about to be bulldozed. Knowing that his brother-in-law, Clarence Sewell, loved historic artifacts he asked him if he’d be interested. When Sewell heard about the old cabin he drove up that day and bought the cabin for $25.

Putnam County Archives found out that the log cabin came from Fort Blount, an outpost where Avery’s Trace road crossed the river. Sewell says that this is more than just some random log cabin and he plans to keep this and add to his various artifacts collection.
